📝 Terms & Conditions of Membership

The Gentle Art Academy

1. Membership & Commitment

• All memberships require a minimum 2-month commitment.

• Membership fees are due monthly in advance, on or before the 1st of each month.

• Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

• Drop-in sessions are available at R175 per class for those who prefer flexibility over commitment.

2. Cancellations & Pauses

• Memberships may be paused or cancelled with at least one full calendar month’s notice in writing (email or WhatsApp).

• Memberships may not be paused for holidays (religious, school, or personal) unless under exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the academy.

• No refunds or credits will be given for late cancellations or missed classes.

• Contracts will automatically continue on a month-to-month basis after the initial contract term unless a written cancellation notice is submitted.

3. Training Requirements

• Own Gloves and Shin guards are a requirement for training (Loaners provides for trial classes)

4. Conduct & Compliance

• All students must conduct themselves respectfully and responsibly and follow our mat rules at all times these are in place for everyone’s safety.

• The academy reserves the right to refuse or terminate membership at any time if terms are breached or if behaviour is deemed disruptive or unsafe.

5. Right to Refuse Service

• The academy reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service to anyone who:

  • Does not uphold the agreed terms and rules;

  • Repeatedly misses payments;

  • Attempts to manipulate policies unfairly.

Hout Bay Jiu-Jitsu Academy, including its owners, instructors, employees, agents, and representatives, shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury, or death, whether arising from negligence or otherwise, suffered by any person entering the premises or participating in any activity, class, or event.

By entering the premises or participating in training, you voluntarily accept all associated risks and waive any claim against the academy and its representatives.
