Acknowledgment of Risks and Release of Liability

Acknowledgment of Risks: I understand that participation in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mauy Thai classes and related activities at Hout Bay Jiu-jitsu Academy involves physical exertion, close contact, and the risk of injuries, including but not limited to bruises, sprains, fractures, dislocations, or other serious injuries.
Voluntary Participation: I voluntarily choose to participate in these activities with full knowledge of the inherent risks.
Medical Clearance: I confirm that I have no medical conditions or injuries that would make participation unsafe or unsuitable.
Indemnity Agreement: I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hout Bay Jiu-jitsu Academy, its owners, coaches, instructors, staff, and representatives from any and all claims, damages, costs, or liabilities arising from my participation.
Release of Liability: I release Hout Bay Jiu-jitsu Academy, its owners, coaches, instructors, staff, and representatives from liability for personal injury, death, property damage, or loss incurred as a result of my participation.
Photo and Video Release: I give permission for Hout Bay Jiu-jitsu Academy to use photos or videos taken during training sessions for promotional purposes. (Check below to opt-in or out.)
Rules and Conduct: I agree to abide by the rules and code of conduct established by Hout Bay Jiu-jitsu Academy.

HOUT BAY JIU-JITSU ACADEMY 柔術 ✰✰ MAT RULES ✶✶

1. LEAVE YOUR EGO OFF THE MAT.
2. No Shoes on the mat.
3. Wear shoes or slops off the mat. Do not arrive barefoot. Feet must be clean before stepping on the mat.
4. Respect your instructors and training partners at all times.
5. Keep fingernails short and clean.
6. Personal hygiene is critically important, clean your body before coming to train.
7. Keep your Gi, clothing and all other gear clean and washed after every use.
8. Stay at home if you are sick, or you will be sent home by the instructor.
9. Bandage all cuts and abrasions well before training.
10. No necklaces, earrings or any other metal objects allowed on the mat.
11. No talking during the demonstration of techniques.
12. Be aware of your surroundings and maintain a safe training environment.
13. When rolling with someone lighter then you be careful with your weight.
14. Be nice to your training partner, do not do stupid things that might cause injury.
15. Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai are reactive sports where your partners will match your intensity, if you train with their safety in mind, they will do the same.
16. All phones must be put on silent and kept off the mat.
17. Techniques learnt here are to be used in daily practice, competitions and as a last resort in self defence. Inappropriate behaviour such as street fights, bullying, etc won’t be tolerated and will result in student termination.
