John has been dedicated to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2014 and is a proud brown belt under Coach Gary Joshua of GFT. A passionate competitor since 2015, he has tested himself at every belt level, earning medals at national and international events, including UAEJJF, ADCC, Alpha Grappling, SAGA Destiny, Siam Cup, and the Thailand Open Jiu-Jitsu Grand Prix.

One of his proudest moments came in 2018 when, as a blue belt, he became only the second South African to win gold at the Abu Dhabi World Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship. In 2024, he repeated this achievement, a testament to years of dedication, learning, and love for the sport.

As a coach, John is committed to helping others grow in Jiu-Jitsu. He believes in clear, effective teaching and creating an environment where students can develop both their skills and confidence on and off the mats. His goal is to share his knowledge and passion, making Jiu-Jitsu accessible and rewarding for everyone who steps onto the mat.
